Our Mission

Get involved. Do good. Have a ball.

If you're anything like us you've got some pretty admirable ideals and really want to see your city, country and world become a better place.

But let's face it: you're also just a few dollars away from that house deposit you've been saving for, and between overtime at work, catching up with friends and a few seconds here and there for precious sleep, volunteering just keeps slipping your mind.

Well think of us as your friendly reminder. Did you know that:

  • Reading over a fact sheet in your lunch break might help you spot a friend at risk of depression, and help them get the help they need?
  • There are dozens of community legal centres looking for lawyers and paralegals to give advice to people facing eviction, mounting debts and an intimidating legal system?
  • By taking your lunch to work just four days a month, you can afford to give a Cambodian village the tools and advice they need to set up a self-sufficient farm, or provide over 500 hot meals to the homeless on Melbourne's streets?
  • By just hanging out and having fun for a few hours each week, you can change a child's life by providing valuable friendship and advice?

You've already got everything you need to make a real difference. With your valuable skills and the odd bit of spare cash now and then, there are hundreds of amazing organisations you can get involved with to help make your community and its vulnerable members stronger and happier.

Our mission is to throw amazing parties where you can meet some of these orgsanisations, get involved, and just as importantly have a ball.

Want to do good?

Get started now, it's easy

We've partnered with OurCommunity, a web-based giving centre, to make donating some cash to worthwhile charities as easy blowing it all on a weekend bender.

For starters you can donate to one of our four partner charities for 2006/7, but watch this space because we'll soon be adding a bunch of other easy ways to give— from your old furniture to your skills and even your tea break.

Go on, put that credit card to some good use

Our big night

6 bands + 80 performers + 4 worthy charities
= 1 massive event

After raising an astonishing $85,000 in its first year, YP4C's signature event, Globall, is back for 2006 with a new venue, new acts and four new charities. The night we call "a music festival in a suit" aims to raise awareness and funds for the AIDS Trust of Australia, the Australian Conservation Foundation, the Matthew Talbot Soup Van (a St Vinnies project) and Worawa Aboriginal College.

YP4C's charities for 2006

Get lost in history

This year Globall throws together thousands of years of history and an army of jazz cats, bands and fire-twirlers on Saturday October 14 at the Melbourne Museum.

Want tickets? Be quick!

Last year's Globall sold out in record time, with hundreds of people scampering for tickets at the last minute. To avoid disappointment this time round, make sure you get in early.

Sponsorship

Join us for the ride.

We're looking for companies that are just as excited as we are about the idea of young professionals achieving something. If that sounds like your organisation, then read on.

Naming rights sponsorship

Does your organisation like to see its name in lights? Does it crave media exposure and targeted marketing to one of the most highly sought after demographics around? Then ask us about becoming the naming rights sponsor for one of our events. Click here to find out more about becoming the Naming Rights Sponsor

General sponsorship

Does your organisation have a product it would like over a thousand young professionals to get access to or know about? Then talk to us about becoming a Sponsor for YP4C and its events. Click here to find out more about Sponsorship

Partnership

Does your organisation have a graduate program? Does it like to reward its employees for the good work that they do? Would it like to woo potential new employees? Then perhaps it would like to purchase a number of tickets to YP4C events to show its own young professionals that it cares. Organisations purchasing bulk tickets for its employees (or subsidising the cost of the ticket) will be considered a YP4C Partner for this event, and will be suitably recognised and acknowledged. Who we are

Passionate. Creative. Committed.
... And that's just for starters.

Young Professionals for Charity (YP4C) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2005 by over fifty young professionals who decided to turn the goodwill and admirable intentions of their peers into direct financial and volunteer support for Melbourne-based charities. We do this by providing links between the non-profit sector and a network of socially-conscious people rapidly rising through the ranks of the business, science and arts communities. We are non-partisan, secular and welcome anyone with the ideas and energy to make our fundraising events and volunteer drives a success.

We are funded by the goodwill and generosity of corporate sponsors, but most importantly by the drive and commitment of our volunteers: young professionals who want to help foster a culture of compassion among their peers, meet some amazing people and have fun doing it.

If you'd like to join, or have any other questions about our work, we'd love you to drop us a line.
