MEDIA RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - OCTOBER 11, 2006
Young Professionals 4 Charity Inc (YP4C) announced today that Globall, to be held at Melbourne Museum on Saturday 14 October, will be the first Melbourne ball to be badged a 'Green Event'.
Globall is the brainchild of YP4C, a non-profit organisation founded in 2005 by a group of 50 young professionals who decided to turn the goodwill and admirable intentions of their peers into direct financial and volunteer support for Melbourne-based charities. This year's Globall will support the AIDS Trust of Australia, the Australian Conservation Foundation, The Matthew Talbot Soup Van (a St Vincent de Paul Society project) and Worawa Aboriginal College.
At the gala event this Saturday night, AGL Green Energy will power microphones for the bands, lighting for the three stages and performance areas, and bring to life plasma screens with charity information and sponsor logos, such as themeing company Solution RED and Peter Rowland Catering.
"Globall is organised and attended by young people who not only want to have a great time and raise money for charity, but who also recognise that their daily activities have direct consequences for climate change. We're stoked to be able to do something positive by partnering up with AGL's Green Energy program and making sure Globall is a greenhouse gas neutral event," says Anthony Nantes, co-founder of YP4C.
With the demand for energy in Australia projected to increase by 50% in the next 15 years , moving to a low-emissions future is a key challenge facing Australia's future growth and living standards.
Significant climate change has already occurred and it is expected that over the next 100 years, the global average temperature is likely to increase by between 1.4OC and 5.8OC, significantly impacting on our way of life.
AGL Green Energy is 'clean' electricity generated from renewable energy sourced from the sun, the wind, water and waste products.
The use of Green Energy will reduce emissions of harmful greenhouse pollution in Australia and contribute to a sustainable environment with greater energy resources for future generations.

Tickets for Globall are selling fast at $120 per person or $115 for purchases of 4 or more. Tickets are available at www.globall.com.au or at the door (cash only on the night).
